Christmas lunch 2024 in Copenhagen

We love Christmas at Christianshavn Færgecafé, especially the wonderful dishes that belongs to the Danish Christmas. Our traditional Danish Christmas lunch is served from the 4th of november and contains both hot and cold dishes and is served just like at home – in several rounds and at the table.

The Captains Christmas lunch is for a minimum of 2 persons and must be ordered by the whole table. It is served at both lunch and dinner.

If you want something more simple, we recommend our Sailors plate “juleplatten”. Please note that we only serve this for lunch.

Do note that we only serve Christmas menu from Thursday to Saturday in Christmas season and not a la carte.

For groups of over 12 people, a beverage package must also be ordered.

The Færgecafé has Christmas for everyone.

The Captains Christmas Table have to be ordered by everyone at the table. We are happy to accommodate guests who are vegetarians or have similar dietary preferences. For example, a pescetarian can easily enjoy the first serving, which consists of pure fish (salmon, herring, shrimp, and fish fillet). After that, our kitchen can serve a vegetarian/fish main course to the pescetarian, while the rest of the table enjoys duck, etc.

If you or your guest is a vegetarian or vegan, our kitchen will serve well-prepared open sandwiches (smørrebrød) tailored to each individual, along with a vegetarian or vegan main course and dessert. Our dessert – classic rice pudding with cherry sauce – is naturally vegetarian, and if you're vegan, we'll serve a delicious sorbet ice cream.

The Færgecafé has everything, except for unhappy faces. However, please remember that special dietary requirements must be pre-ordered at least 1 week before the event.

The less interesting, but important facts

In the restaurant we can seat 56 guests and on our very own ferry Christianshavnerfærgen – a restored Swedish ferry from 1873, where up to 40 people can sit in the salon and 20 people on our heated, covered winterdeck. Do note that we only serve the big Christmas table on ferry Christianshavnerfærgen.
