For lunch, our menu features classic open-faced sandwiches. You'll find open-faced sandwiches all over Copenhagen – but here we serve it with a modern twist. We always respect traditional Danish cuisine, solid craftsmanshipand use great seasonal ingredients. We're happy to serve your lunch with a generous shot of schnapps. On our drinks menu you'll find both our own homemade snaps and a wide selection of aquavits.
A restaurant with Danish food
When evening rolls around, you’ll find classic Danish dishes on the menu. Our goal is to create a Danish restaurant rooted in proud seafaring traditions and a deep love for Danish cuisine—and, not least, a love for fresh ingredients. Tartlets, roast pork, and Wiener schnitzel are among the classics on the evening menu.
Big smiles, stumbling feet and great moments
Today, we source aquavits and schnapps from all over the Nordic region for our well-stocked schnapps menu - and we are diligently experimenting with blending herbal and fruit schnapps, of which we have more than 30 on the menu.
Christianshavns Færgecafé still boasts its original, rustic 1900s style, featuring a maritime atmosphere, timber framing, and charmingly crooked doors and floors. It's a place that embraces everything from quirky smiles and clumsy steps to truly special moments.

We make food and schnapps just like mom used to: from scratch and with the season's best ingredients. Our goal is to create Denmark's best schnapps menu, because nothing gets the good times rolling quite like sharing a little shot with the person next to you. At our schnapps course, we'll teach you the ropes so you can learn how to make your very own schnapps.

From fireboat to restaurant and event space in the old part of Christianshavn
The ferry is an antique, former Swedish passenger vessel built in 1880 as Stockholm's first fireboat under the name S:T Erik. Today, it gently sways in Wilders Canal, hosting parties, meetings, or private dinners. If you’d like to explore the ferry, contact us to arrange a visit on board.
The ferry can accommodate up to 62 people, including 40 people in the lounge. There is both high-speed internet access and AV equipment available, making the boat ideal for private events in a creative and unique setting. Similarly, the boat is perfect for a birthday dinners or a genuine feast with DJ and dancing.
A unique meeting space: Book the Captain's ferry
If you really want to feel the maritime atmosphere, you should book the Christianshavn ferry, which is docked just outside Strandgade 50 next to the canal. Here, you’ll discover an exceptional meeting room in Copenhagen.
The boat has been converted into a top-tuned restaurant ship with a cozy, heated meeting room with AV equipment, wifi, private toilets and potted plants that dance lightly in time with the canal.

A restaurant in Christianshavn with maritime roots
We're proud to share that this very house at Strandgade 50 has had strong ties to the sea since 1850, back when it was owned by a sailor's family. They used to rent rooms to sailors from all corners of the globe. But sadly, when the sailor's ship went down, his resourceful widow had to take the helm herself, and she started a home distillery right here.
The local police chief was one of the regulars, and maybe that's why Christianshavns Færgecafé was among the first places in Christianshavn to get an alcohol and restaurant license – a license it's had ever since.
