Christmas lunch in the heart of Copenhagen

The Christmas lunch includes both cold and hot dishes, which are served in several courses, and is perfect for both small and large parties.

At Christianshavns Færgecafé, we love Christmas and the traditional Danish dishes that are a staple of the holiday season and its many Christmas parties. We call our Christmas party menu “The Captain’sChristmas Table —a classic served for both lunch and dinner. If you’d prefer a lighter meal, you can choose the Sailor’s Christmas Platter, available for lunch. Are you, or someone in your party, vegetarian or similar? No problem. The Christmas lunch is served from November 12 through Christmas Eve on December 23 and again starting on Boxing Day and every day between Christmas and New Year’s (through December 30).

From the third week of November through the third week of December, you can order from our Christmas à la carte menu on Thursdays and Fridays— a small but delicious selection of Christmas open-faced sandwiches. This can be ordered for up to 7 people, and the table must be reserved by 12:00 PM at the latest. If there are more than 12 people, or if a table is reserved for a Friday or Saturday evening during the Christmas season, a beverage package must be purchased. For lunch and on other days, it is à la carte.

The Ferry Café has Christmas for everyone

The Captain's Christmas Table can be ordered by everyone, but remember: when you order the Captain's Christmas Table, we are happy to accommodate guests who are vegetarians or similar. A pescetarian, for example, can easily join the first serving, which is pure fish (salmon, herring, shrimp and fish fillet), after which the galley then serves a vegetarian or fish main course to the pescetarian, while the rest of the table enjoys duck etc.

If you or your guest is a vegetarian or vegan, the galley serves well-buttered open sandwiches that suit the individual as well as a vegetarian or vegan main course and dessert. Our dessert - classic risalamande with cherry sauce - is vegetarian by nature, and if you are vegan, we serve a delicious sorbet ice cream.
Færgecaféen has everything; except sour faces. Remember that special diets must be pre-ordered at least 1 week before the event.

Christmas lunch for larger groups

Our dining room can seat 56 guests. It features wooden floors and a glass ceiling—a truly authentic and cozy Christianshavn restaurant with slightly echoey acoustics during the Christmas season.
You can also dine aboard the Christianshavn Ferry—a restored Swedish ferry from 1880 moored in the canal right outside the dining room. Here, up to 40 guests can sit in the salon, which features good acoustics and private restrooms.

On top of our ferry, you’ll find our hot-air-heated, covered winter deck—which can seat up to 20 people.

Christmas in January and February

If Christmas is too busy for a Christmas lunch in December - make it into a winter lunch in January. Just like our traditional Christmas lunch, it's served over several courses and includes both cold and hot dishes. However, it's toned down a bit for Christmas.
The price for a winter table including a small drinks package is 695,- per person.

It’s always a good idea to make a reservation well in advance, especially during the Christmas season when things get very busy. If you’re a large group, we recommend booking well in advance, as the popular Christmas lunch dates often sell out before fall even begins.
