Mother's Day
On Sunday, May 10, we’ll be celebrating Mother’s Day on Strandgade
Mother’s Day is a special occasion for us—that’s why we’re serving a classic High Tea with freshly baked scones, homemade jam, and sweet treats to make the afternoon extra cozy.
For thirteen years, we’ve been serving food “just like Mom used to make” at the Færgecafé at Strandgade 50, because what could be better than the taste of Mom’s home cooking? It brings back fond childhood memories, and that’s exactly what I’ve dug up here of my red-haired mom, my brother, and myself (with a pacifier) for this year’s Mother’s Day, which falls on Sunday, May 10.
Because Mom is the best in the world, and she deserves to be pampered. My head chef Hywel and I can quickly agree on that, and this year Hywel has gone all out to celebrate his mom and his British roots with a classic High Tea.
Hywel quickly convinced me of the appeal of a classic High Tea when he first served me his scones. They simply taste heavenly! And we’ve chosen to serve them with some good Danish whipped cream and homemade strawberry jam. Of course, there are also classic finger sandwiches, delicate pastries, and a glass of bubbly to start with—see the full Mother’s Day menu below.
