Swedish Crayfish Feast in Copenhagen

The course is set for Swedish cuisine, and we are bringing the traditional crayfish feast to Copenhagen. In late summer, you can experience a Swedish crayfish feast with bisque, crayfish and of course our well-known handmade schnapps for the occasion.

The crayfish feast costs 695 DKK per person including ad libitum pilsner/classic, house wine, soda, water during dinner for 2 hours. The crayfish feast must be booked in advance. Stop by and enjoy a classic Swedish crayfish feast with a lovely view of the canals in the heart of Christianshavn, when we hold it on August 29 and 30 and September 5 and 6.

One of the crayfish feast's finest traditions is the schnapps song. So let the schnapps lubricate your vocal cords and sing along. Below you will find the text to the crayfish feast's probably most famous song: "Helan går!"

Rhubarbtrifle with cream and toasted almonds

Classic Swedish crayfish feast - like in Sweden

In August and September, the Swedish crayfish feasts - or kräftskiva, as they say in the other world - take place. The Swedes celebrate the first crayfish of the season with songs and schnapps. We have adopted the tradition at Christianshavn's Færgecafé and set up a crayfish feast, as if you were in Sweden.

It was to avoid predation on the Swedish delicacy that the crayfish hunting season was introduced in August and September in the 19th century. And you can probably understand it, because the Swedes reportedly kill 4.5 million kg of crayfish every year. That's why people in Sweden look forward to late summer, when they can once again invite friends and family to the traditional crayfish feast.

And of course we serve the traditional snaps when we are having a crayfish party.

No crayfish without schnapps

At the Færgecaféen we make our own schnapps from herbs, berries and fruits. Our well-assorted schnapps list includes over 30 homemade schnapps. And of course we also have a large selection of hand-picked aquavits from the best producers. We are happy to serve a generous shot of schnapps so you can toast your crayfish.
