A highlight of the celebration is the drinking song—let the schnapps loosen your vocal cords and join the singing. At the bottom of the page, you’ll find the lyrics to the party’s most famous tune: “Helan går!”
Join us for a classic Swedish crayfish party with stunning canal views in the heart of Christianshavn. The event takes place on August 29 and 30 and September 5 and 6. Pre-booking is required for the crayfish party.

In August and September, Swedish crayfish parties – or kräftskiva, as they call them – come to life. The Swedes mark the season's first crayfish with lively songs and schnapps. At Christianshavn's Ferry Café, we’ve embraced this tradition and are setting the table for a crayfish party that feels just like being in Sweden.
To prevent overexploitation of the Swedish delicacy, a hunting season for crayfish was established in August and September during the 19th century. This regulation is understandable, as Swedes reportedly consume 4.5 million kilograms of crayfish annually. As a result, people in Sweden eagerly anticipate late summer, looking forward to gathering friends and family for the traditional crayfish feast.
